Wild Tots Attenborough

Giants of the Forest – Redwoods of California

Thursday 7th December

Join in with an exploration of the natural history of these huge trees in their native environment and that of similar species brought to this country by Victorian plant hunters at this meeting of the South Notts Local Group with Mike Davey. 7.30pm in Room 5, West Bridgford Methodist Church, (junction of Patrick Road and Musters Road). Adults £3, children free.

Rivers - Source to Sea

Thursday 7th December

Join the Newark & Sherwood Local Group for an illustrated talk by Jack Perks. Rivers are without a doubt Jack’s favourite habitat to photograph having been to highland streams, Hampshire’s chalk streams and large midland rivers like the Severn and Trent. Follow him down a British river seeing what they have on show. Raffle and NWT sales table. 7.30pm in Newark Library, £3 per person.

Winter Tree Identification

Saturday 9th December

Learn how to identify common trees in winter, without using leaves, at our Idle Valley Reserve. Includes analysis of a wide range of samples followed by a field session on the reserve. 10am-3pm, £35. Idle Valley Christmas Lecture – Lighting Up Nature

Join Rick Berry from Wise Owl Environmental Education for an interactive talk on light in nature. Take part in fun experiments that show how animals see light, and how some animals can even make their own light! Suitable for children age 6+ and their families.
