Bird Ringing in Treswell Wood

Sunday 4th June

Event Type: Treswell Wood | Members-only | Bassetlaw

As their contribution to The Wildlife Trusts’ “Thirty Days Wild” campaign, the Ringers who operate in Treswell Wood are inviting Members to watch them at work on any of the four Sunday mornings in June, between 7.00 and 10.00 am. Weather permitting, the group’s mist nets will be set earlier in one of the standard sites which are used to monitor the wood’s resident birds and summer visitors and Members should walk down the Main Ride until they reach that day’s Ringing Base. All being well, you can expect to see a selection of our common woodland species in the hand and learn how they are examined to establish their age, sex and condition, ringed, weighed and measured. If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity, please e-mail John McMeeking (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) during the preceding week with your planned arrival time so that we can try to ensure that we do not have too many visitors at once.
