Green Man Workshop

Thursday 1st June

Event Type: Skylarks | Rural Crafts & Skills | Rushcliffe

Start the month as you mean to go on with this Green Man outdoor workshop at Skylarks Nature Reserve. Learn about ‘green man’ imagery in history, archaeology and folklore. Have a go at carving your own using traditional techniques and local wood. Workshop is for adults aged 18+ and requires you to have a good degree of manual dexterity as you will be using sharp tools. 1 – 3 pm, free of charge.

Dyes & Textiles Workshop

Thursday 8th June

Event Type: Skylarks | Rural Crafts & Skills | Rushcliffe

A day for adults investigating ancient textiles and dyes at Skylarks Nature Reserve. A mixture of teaching and practical sessions will give you a basic introduction to the history and archaeology of textiles, and you will create and dye your own skein of yarn using ancient techniques. 10 am – 2 pm. Free, but booking required.

Experimental Pottery Workshop

Learn about Saxon pottery at Skylarks; how it was made, decorated and used. Try out different clay mixes and learn about the technology behind them. Have a go at crafting your own Saxon pot. 10 am – 2 pm. For adults aged 18+. Free, but booking required.
