Attenborough Calendar on sale

Attenborough Calendar on sale

Twelve stunning amateur photographs of local wildlife feature in Attenborough Nature Reserve’s new calendar – after a competition attracted more than 500 entries.
The 2011 calendar is on sale now, raising money for Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust.

We were delighted with the response after asking local amateur snappers to submit their best wildlife pictures. A panel of judges then selected 12 images which best represent the region’s wildlife, including a fox in the snow, some newly-hatched coot chicks and five mallard ducklings.

The judges also chose one image as the overall winner: Phil Dee’s striking blossom-framed shot of a blue tit munching a bug, which illustrates March in the calendar. Mr Dee lives near Attenborough reserve and takes thousands of pictures there each year.

We launched the competition back in January, when Attenborough was under the media glare after at least 5 rare bitterns were spotted on the Reserve. We were also keen to follow up on the success of the 2010 calendar, which sold out within a fortnight.

The 2011 calendar is on sale now at Attenborough Nature Centre and the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust office, Brook Street, Nottingham.
It costs just £7.50 and all proceeds will go to Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust to help protect and enhance habitats for wildlife throughout the county.
