3 days to go!
Wednesday 21st September
With the deadline for our Green Guardians Awards quickly approaching, Mike Dilger, the ecologist, broadcaster and wildlife reporter for the BBCs ONE Show, has made an appeal for the county’s environmental champions to submit applications for the annual awards.
Throughout his career Mike has travelled the world in pursuit of tropical flora and fauna, but he still remains fond of Nottingham where he studied Ecology.
"Close to my heart"
Speaking about the Awards, he said, “The Green Guardians Awards are a great opportunity for local communities, businesses, schools and individuals to shout about what they are doing to help protect the local environment in a county which is very close to my heart.”
There are seven categories in which prizes can be won, with a total of £6000 of prize money on offer.
He added, “If you are involved in an environmental project anywhere from Burton Joyce to Besthorpe then I’d urge you to apply – what have you got to lose?!”
The closing date for applications this year is only a few days away - Monday October 3rd, with the award ceremony set to be held at Nottingham’s Albert Hall in November.
