More time to name your own beer

More time to name your own beer

We’re extending the closing date for our competition to name a new range of beers. Castle Rock Brewery need to find names for their Natural Selection range, brewed in support of Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, and are giving members of the public until the end of September to give it a try.

Castle Rock have so far produced more than 100 unique brews and staff at the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust have been naming the Natural Selection beers since production started in 2001.

Speaking about the competiton, the Wildlife Trust’s Communications Manager Erin McDaid said:
“We’re very excited to being giving the people of Nottinghamshire the chance to name one of Castle Rock’s special wildlife beers. We’re looking to find 12 new names, one for each month of 2011, with the chance to win a container and specially-designed pump clip of your own beer. So far we’ve had around 50 entrants emailing us their suggestions. We’re hoping that by extending the deadline until the end of the month, we’ll attract more people to have a go”.

To date the Natural Selection range of beers has helped release over £100,000 of funds for vital conservation projects - with donations from Castle Rock Brewery being used as match funding from other sources.

Ideally, the names should focus on species which are under threat or which rely upon threatened habitats. They should also steer clear of existing trademarks and must be short enough to fit on a pump clip.

With the search for new names now in full swing, people wishing to make suggestions are being asked to email them to Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust at (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

Entrants should supply their name, date of birth and a postal address. Whoever suggests the name chosen for January 2011 will be invited to help with the production of the beer and will receive an 8 pint container of the brew once it’s ready as well as being treated to lunch at a Castle Rock pub. The proposers of the other 11 beers will each receive an 8 pint container of the brew they have named along with a pump clip for the beer. Alternative prizes will be awarded to entrants under the age of 18.

The new closing date for suggestions is Thursday 30th September and details of all previous Natural Selection names can be found by visiting the Castle Rock Website Details of this year’s beers can be found here.
