New Mushroom Book Launch at Attenborough Nature Centre

Curious about mushrooms? Want to tell your Fairies’ Bonnets from your Chicken of the Woods? Now you can with Alison Linton’s new book, Field Guide to the Mushrooms of Britain and Europe, an accessible guide to help anyone interested in learning more about mushrooms – whether it is finding out about their characteristics of size, colour, texture, habitat and season or just knowing where to find them.

With over 200 colour photographs, many taken at Attenborough, each mushroom is fully illustrated, showing clear, close-up detail of the fungi plus varied descriptions including  puffballs, coral and jelly fungus plus a small selection of the more rare mushrooms to be found. Also highlighted throughout are the different caps, stems, gills, pores and rings.

Published to coincide with the prime mushroom hunting season – from September until the end March – Field Guide to the Mushrooms of Britain and Europe is sure to guide anyone with a growing interest in the fascinating world of fungi and is ideal for both beginners and those with a little more knowledge of mushrooms.

The author, Alison Linton is a keen photographer and fungi enthusiast, who has already shared her passion for the subject with thousands of people via her blog and website (www.fungiworld.co.uk).

All photographs in the book are taken by Alison Linton which is available in the Attenborough Nature Centre shop at £14.99, paperback (with plastic wallet). Alison will be having an exhibition of her photography work in the gallery space at Attenborough Nature Centre throughout October, and book launch (and signing) there on the weekend of 22nd and 23rd October.
