Springtime is here at the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust

Shake off those winter cobwebs and get back to nature this April with the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust at their final events from the Wildlife What’s On guide for January-April 2016. There is a packed schedule with a variety of activities suitable for the whole family and wildlife lovers of all ages and interests are encouraged to get involved and try something different.

Why not kick off the season with a visit to the Spring Fair at Idle Valley Nature Reserve. Sunday the 10th April, 10am – 4pm. Enjoy guided walks, wildlife talks and nature-themed activities for children, all to celebrate springtime.  The café will be serving springtime specials, homemade cakes, great coffees and seasonal treats. Contact the Rural Learning Centre on 01777 713 941.

Throughout April a variety of fun-filled events are being held all over Nottinghamshire, perfect for keeping kids occupied over the Easter break. Attenborough Nature Reserve is hosting a Holiday Club on the 5th and 7th of April themed on the ‘Signs of Spring’, and again on the 12th and 14th of April about ‘Woodland Wildlife’. 10.15am – 12.15pm. Suitable for ages 4 and above, there is a cost of £5.00 per child for each session and children must be accompanied by an adult. Contact Attenborough Nature Centre on 0115 972 1777.

Even young children won’t be left out with the ‘Wild Tots’ parent and toddler sessions, suitable for children aged 2-4 and their families. Taking place on the 6th of April at Attenborough Nature Reserve, 10.30am – 12 noon and 1 – 2.30pm. £5 per child.  Please book in advance as numbers are limited and note that children must be accompanied by an adult. If you’re visiting north Nottinghamshire there is plenty to do at the Idle Valley Nature Reserve, including a ‘Woodland Workshop’ on both Wednesday the 6th and 13th of April, 10.30am – 2.30pm. Children can learn to build fires and shelters and create crafts using natural materials. Come rain or shine this session is guaranteed, so bring suitable clothing for getting wild!  £10 per child (8-14 years).  Booking is essential. Contact the Rural Learning Centre on 01777 713 941.

Additionally, there will be a Wildlife Holiday Drop-in at Idle Valley on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the first two weeks of April. These will be active outdoor sessions, great for any wild child who enjoys exploring nature.  £4 per child.  Drop in 11am – 12 noon or 1 – 2pm. Contact the Rural Learning Centre on 01777 713 941.
