Successful launch of Idle Valley Ecominds
Friday 18th February
On 8th February we launched the Ecominds project at our Idle Valley Nature Reserve. Funded through Mind in association with the Big Lottery, this project aims to improve mental wellbeing by offering individuals the chance to get involved with an outdoor activity that benefits the environment and the local community.
The launch attracted a great deal of interest from local service providers, and we were very pleased that so many people were able to come and hear about the project. We have already involved an existing group of mental health service users from Worksop, and plan to expand the scheme further from now on.
It was a very relaxed and enjoyable day, and we had some great weather too which showed off the beautiful setting for the project. Hopefully this day has sown the seed in many people’s minds, leading to them becoming more involved in developing the project and referring people they feel may benefit.
Speaking about the project, Katherine Evans, Grant Officer at Ecominds said: ‘Congratulations on such a successful launch event. It was good to meet the people currently involved in the project - they are great advocates for the work you are doing.’
We are inviting anyone who is interested in getting more involved with the development of the project to a steering group on Monday 7th March at 5.30 at Idle Valley Rural Learning Centre. This is open to service providers and service users alike, or anyone with an interest in the project.
Please contact Ecominds project officer Beccy Lees if you would like any more information or are interested in referring, volunteering becoming involved in any way.
