Urgent Appeal Update Summer 2010
Wednesday 25th August
Following the coverage of our Trentside Habitats Appeal in our recent mailing we are delighted to be able to announce that members and supporters have now contributed a total of £16,830 towards our stated target of £20,000. This is a tremendous response, but since the mailing we have been presented with the rare opportunity of purchasing an area of important floodplain grassland adjacent to our Girton Grasslands Nature Reserve in the heart of the Trent Vale. As a result we now need to raise at total of £10,470 in donations in order to deliver our original plans and secure this exciting purchase.
Sadly all too much of this habitat has been lost to intensive agriculture, drainage and development over the past 60 years and we need your support to help ensure that this grassland is protected for the future. We believe that this land will help make the Girton Grasslands Nature Reserve more sustainable and enable us to create a demonstration site, to help showcase good conservation management to other landowners in the Trent Vale.
If you have already made a donation to our appeal we would like to thank you for your support—if you have not yet made a contribution I would like to ask you to consider supporting our efforts to secure the long term future of this grassland and of other vital habitats within the Trent Vale landscape. Any contributions unlock other funding meaning a donation of £10 could be worth up to £150 to Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust—so every £1 really will help. To make a donation please visit our campaigns section to find out more, and make a secure online donation.
