We’ve passed the Moo-mentous half way mark!
Friday 20th July
Thanks to generous donations and a variety of fundraising efforts we have passed the half way target of our Cow Appeal and now have a herd of 10 cows and 2 adorable calves, who are earning their keep by sustainably grazing areas of scrub growth on our Idle Valley Nature Reserve, before moving on to graze sites throughout the Trent Vale area.
Last month employees from L'Oreal Luxe, one of our valued Wildlife Guardians, met their cow LUXY - pictured above being interviewed on camera!
During that visit we also met and named DAVE & JANICE, two more of our herd who have been purchased thanks to a generous donation from Life Member Janice Smith, who requested donations in lieu of flowers from her friends and family, in memory of her late husband Dave. As Janice said when she donated their money, "The Trent Valley was an area very close to Dave's heart. This way Dave and I will both be happily grazing a field in the Trent Vale area to our hearts content." A lovely sentiment.
Geoff Hickman, who cycled 400 miles during rain lashed June, from Land's End to his home in Nottingham, raising over £1500 in sponsorship, met and named his cow DANIELLE earlier this week.
Thank you for all your support, though of course we do have almost £10,000 still to raise to reach our final target.
Our supporters have come up with a variety of innovative ways to raise funds for our Cow Appeal, here are just a few examples from NWT members . . .
Suzanne Kirk held a special celebration party at home, requesting donations in lieu of gifts. Her family & friends generously donated £350.
Julie Palmer & Phil Preen, of the Poppy Folk Club, raised £110 with "A Human Jukebox" event as part of the Lady Bay Arts Festival in May.
BBC presenter John Holmes borrowed our mascot PAT, to collect donations from visitors to a recent open garden event at his home.
Feeling inspired?
If any of the above stories have inspired you to hold your own Cow Appeal fundraiser and you would like a Cow Appeal fundraising pack - posters, donation box, stickers etc - please contact our Development Team who will be happy to help.
Thank you all, for your support.
