Join us at events!
The Trust is currently seeking adhoc help with the programme of events across the county. This could be helping to set up and break down kit such as marquees and banners at the events as well as be present during events helping out with information requests or simple activities such as supervising craft and art activities or nature table displays with a USB microscope and laptop.
What experience and skills are needed?
No specialist skills are required however you will need to have a moderate/ good level of fitness.
Having an interest in the natural world and local wildlife will be a benefit but not essential to inspire visitors.
The applicant will need to be able to work as part of a team working closely with other people such as the Communications and Marketing Officer (volunteer leader) but also the Head of the Communications and Marketing Department plus the Marketing and Events Assistant. However, the role does expect the applicant to be able to work independently following instructions – for your safety and everyone else’s.
This role could also dovetail to other Communications and marketing volunteer roles depending on the persons’ availability, experience and interest such as in social media and photography/filming.
What are the benefits of volunteering?
Gain valuable experience for future employment prospects
Meet new people and work as part of a team
Improved fitness, health and wellbeing
Feel more connected to nature
Full induction of the kit and demonstration of safely setting up/breaking down will take place.
How much time am I expected to commit?
There is no limit to your involvement – you are welcome to get involved in as many events as we require help at if you have the time, capacity and energy!
We can often provide a lift to the event venues with the kit depending on transport capacity but you may need to make your own way to the sites if not volunteering for the full event.
Events are run during the week and at weekends, both during the day and evening.
We ask all volunteers to let their Volunteer Leader know if they cannot attend.
