Heathland Shrubs and Birch Brooms

Wednesday 8th September

Heathlands are some of Britain’s rarest and richest habitats, and the Mansfield area has an unusually large number of them to offer. The Wildlife Trust’s Head of Estates, Charles Langtree, will talk about the extensive heathland conservation work in this part of Nottinghamshire at a meeting of the Mansfield & Ashfield Local Group. Admission £2 including refreshments. 7.30pm. Methodist Church, Bridge Street, Mansfield.

Tiny Tots

Wednesday 8th September

Parent and toddler sessions, suitable for 2 - 4 year olds. £3 per child. Please book in advance as numbers are limited. Children must be accompanied by an adult. 10.30am - 12 noon & 1pm - 2.30pm.

Scything Course

Saturday 11th September

Learn this time-honoured technique from the country’s best. Former national scything champion and local craftsman Ray Lister will teach the technique of the Austrian scythe - a tool so light a child could use it! 10am – 3pm. £40 per person. Meet at the craftsmen sheds in Treswell Wood. Please bring packed lunch; tea and coffee provided. Booking essential.
