Capital One has funded a new Boardwalk Dipping Platform at Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust’s award-winning and much loved Attenborough Nature Reserve.

Capital One, whose UK Head Office is in Nottingham (Trent House, Station Street) has funded a new Boardwalk Dipping Platform at Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust’s award-winning and much loved Attenborough Nature Reserve.  The platform will be used to enable visitors to immerse themselves in nature and as a spot for young people to pond dip for wild creatures as part of the educational programs run from the site. As part of their longstanding partnership the Trust is delighted to be working with Capital One to establish this valuable visitor facility at Attenborough Nature Reserve, especially now as the Trust has successfully taken ownership of the site and can invest in changes.

Attenborough Nature Reserve is a SSSI reserve right on the doorstep of the city of Nottingham and welcomes an estimated half a million visitors each year. It covers 145 hectares of lakes, wetland, grassland, and woodland and is listed by Countryfile as one of Britain’s best nature reserves for walks and wildlife.

This boardwalk will be a great addition to bring its visitors closer to wildlife and the beautiful habitats around them. The Trust has ambitious plans for the reserve since taking over the ownership and this is one of many planned enhancements. There have already been a number of new habitat creations and there are plans for improving the area around the visitor centre, so watch this space for developments.

Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trusts’ vision is to ensure that Nottinghamshire’s people and wildlife are thriving together by engaging with the local community through events, education, and volunteering opportunities, helping our county be a healthy and wildlife rich place to live.  Experiencing nature close-up is key to achieving this vision and Capital One’s generous support enables the Trust to install this boardwalk dipping platform at Attenborough Nature Reserve just in time for the reserves seasonal spring visitors to enjoy.

This fantastic addition will allow visitors of all ages to build closer connections with wildlife and at the same time be educated about nature.  The boardwalk has been constructed using recycled materials and will be a fun way to safely bring people closer to the water and all the amazing wildlife that flourishes in and around it.

We’re really proud to be partnering with Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust again this year, and to be extending our work with them to support installing the dipping platform at Attenborough Nature Reserve.

Dave continued, “We’re also delighted to be invited to trial the platform ourselves first with staff and their families.
