10 year partnership supports much loved local Nature Reserve

Opticron & Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust are pleased to announce they are celebrating 10 years of their ongoing partnership.

Opticron binoculars and scopes have been available for sale at both Attenborough Nature Reserve and the Idle Valley Rural Learning Centre shops for many years with special events held for customers to visit and try in real field conditions with expert advice on hand before purchase. The amount raised by the 10 year relationship in direct financial support is equivalent to covering the costs of running and managing Attenborough Nature Reserve for one full year. A significant amount!

Chris Galvin of Opticron, who is a lifetime birder said “I have been demonstrating here now for 10 years and during that time I have seen an amazing amount of people become interested in wildlife for the first time. Attenborough are particularly good at engaging the local population and there is a great community spirit amongst the local wildlife groups. It is fascinating to work alongside Tim Sexton who has a boundless energy and his wildlife knowledge of the Reserve is a true asset to Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust.”

“The fact we get customers travelling from far and wide shows just how much they value the honest advice from our staff and volunteers, many of whom are keen birdwatchers themselves. This is along with the ability to try a range of products in real field conditions, particularly as we live in an increasingly E-commerce dominated retail environment.” Said Tim Sexton, Manager, Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust Trading Ltd

Opticron products are available for sale at both shops in Attenborough Nature Centre and Idle Valley Rural Learning Centre, nr Retford. The next demonstration day will be held at Attenborough Nature Reserve on 22nd October 2017.
