Badger’s About!

The official mascot of the Wildlife Trusts has been very busy in Nottinghamshire this week - trying out the new mobile-phone Audio Tour at Attenborough Nature Reserve, and even stopping for a drink at the Nottingham Beer Festival!

The Badger, sporting his Wildlife Trust T-shirt, joined the thousands of drinkers at the Robin Hood Beer Festival at Nottingham Castle on Friday. Thanks to support from sponsors Castle Rock Brewery, Notts Wildlife Trust were named as the official charity for the event. The beer festival is an annual celebration of Real Ale, offering visitors a chance to choose from the widest range ever brought together in the UK. After selecting his favourite beer, the Wildlife Trust Badger was spotted encouraging locals to try their luck in the charity’s raffle.

On Sunday however, Badger ventured into the great outdoors, joining in the fun at Attenborough Nature Reserve for Migration Day, finding out more about the epic journey which millions of birds make every autumn. He helped sell Harrison’s bird seed and feeders, before joining in the children’s activities, migration games, craft activities, bird-ringing and guided nature walks. Many visitors joined the badger in enjoying this free event at one of Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust’s most popular nature reserves.

The highlight of Badger’s day however was the Attenborough Audio Tour. This brand new attraction at the reserve can be enjoyed by anyone who owns a mobile phone (and as you can see, Badger does!). With an introduction by Sir David Attenborough, the Audio Tour is a great opportunity to find out more about the history and nature of the site, from gravel extraction to the lifecycles of dragonflies.
To find out more about the Audio Tour, ask at the Attenborough Nature Centre for details.
