Where and when is the Walk for Wildlife 2 taking place?

The walk is happening on Sunday 27th November. It will start in London at Portland Place and end at Parliament Square. People will gather at 12.00pm for a 1.00pm start. The route is 1.8 miles long and should take approximately an hour.

Why is the walk happening?

Our wildlife and wild places are under threat across the length and breadth of the UK. The evocative song of the skylark and the iconic call of the cuckoo were once common but are now noticeable by their absence in many areas. Our rivers are suffering through pollution and oceans are filled with massive amounts of waste.  This is not the wild future we want for the UK.

The Walk for Wildlife 2 presents the opportunity for thousands of people who care about nature to walk peacefully together with one clear aim – to let the UK Government know we need action for nature right now. We want a more secure future for our wildlife, the planet and people.

Who will be taking part in the walk?

Everyone can take part. More than 4,000 people have already signed up on the People’s Walk for Wildlife website and many different organisations and charities have committed to joining the walk. The Wildlife Trusts will be proudly represented by staff, volunteers, members and supporters. We will all walk together with flags, placards and banners to send a message to the UK Government that now is the time to act for nature.

What should I bring?

Warm waterproof clothing will be a must – along with comfortable shoes but if you want to stand out from the crowd, you can bring bright, colourful banners, flags or other props or you could event wear fancy dress – why not come as a species under threat or your favourite creature?

If I am not able to get to the walk in London, what else can I do instead?

We understand that many supporters may not be able to join the walk in London but you can still take part and send a message to Government. You could create a poster or placard and then share it on social media on the day and then place it in your house, flat or even car window. Whether you show support in person or from your own home, your voice can play a crucial part in letting the UK Government know it is time to act for nature.

Walk wherever you connect with nature.

If you can’t get to London, why not meet up with friends and family at your favourite local nature spot between 1pm & 2pm as others gather in London to show your support. Whether you head to one of our nature reserves or drop in at your local park, show you care by sharing a photo of your walk wherever you might be.

When was the first Walk for Wildlife?

The first Walk for Wildlife took place in September 2018 in London. Chris Packham, who is a Vice President of the RSPB, was joined by thousands of people who walked from Hyde Park to 10 Downing Street.
