Ecominds project scoops award
Wednesday 2nd November
We are proud to announce that our Idle Valley Ecominds project has won a special award.
We are delighted that Bassetlaw Physical Activity and Health Partnership recognised the project's work promoting health and physical activity, in the Inclusive Schemes category.
The Ecominds project aims to improve mental health and well-being by offering individuals the chance to get involved in a range of conservation, food growing and wildlife gardening tasks.
It has so far been very successful in helping people make new friends with support from people who have had similar experiences while also helping these people gain confidence and learn new skills in gardening and wildlife conservation.
Project Officer Beccy Lees and two project volunteers attended the award ceremony at North Notts arena.
Speaking about the award, Beccy said: "We are thrilled that the achievements of Ecominds have been recognised in this way. The project helps so many people with mental health issues, by providing the chance to get outdoors and involved with nature conservation."
The Ecominds project is open to anyone with direct experience of mental distress; you do not need to have a formal diagnosis.
