About the event

Ploughman Wood is an ancient woodland owned and managed by Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust on the edge of the Parish of Lowdham. Michael has been researching the woods history which dates back to at least the 12th century using maps, written accounts and the physical evidence that can be seen on the ground. All woodlands can tell a story if you look deep enough and Michael will talk through the methods he has used which can be applied to your local woodland.

Michael is a committed woodland enthusiast and is as fascinated in their histories as much as the wildlife that calls them home. A former butterfly county recorder and chair of the Nottinghamshire Bat Group, he is most likely to be found in a woodland somewhere in the county looking for bats and dormice. For the last 13 years he has worked for the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust.
