Global EHS & Sustainability Manager at Mayborn Group Leysa Relf got hands on (or more like ears on!) by taking part in one of Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trusts Wild Tots events, exploring the sense of hearing. This followed the fantastic news of Mayborn (Sangenic International LTD) renewing their membership as a Wildlife Guardian and sponsor of Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trusts’ “Love Attenborough” and “Every Child Wild” campaigns.

These two campaigns supported by Mayborn Group allow young children to experience nature like never before, with the ‘Wild Tots’ events being a prime example of how to make #everychildwild. Wild Tots sessions are suitable for ages 2-4, allowing children to immerse themselves in nature from a young age. Earlier this month, Leysa Relf joined a ‘Sensational Senses’ session at the much loved Attenborough Nature Reserve. Activities included creating music instruments from recycled materials, and listening to the noises of the woodland. What better place to stimulate senses with the joyous songs of the many bird species that can be found at Attenborough. It is no wonder that this reserve has become one of the most important and best loved nature reserves in the UK, and Mayborns continual support to its long-term management allows for these events to take place.

As a business we are committed through our Sustainability Programme to protecting the environment for future generations and are passionate about the ‘Every Child Wild’ Programme which inspires children to care about nature”.

The benefits of interacting with wildlife are becoming increasingly known, with children being happier, healthier, and more creative when they are connected to the natural world. The Wildlife Trusts highlight the importance of this connection being available for every child in the UK. There is current disconnect between young people and the environment, and sessions such as Wild Tots aims to solve this issue. There are also sessions for other age groups making events accessible for the whole family.

Becoming a Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust corporate supporter not only fulfils the demands of companies’ corporate social responsibility policy but can help engage staff and reach new audiences providing a way to differentiate the business. It provides an opportunity to join a network of like-minded individuals and local companies which support Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust in protecting wildlife for the future whilst making a tangible difference to business and to the local environment where customers and employees live.
