Nominations now open to celebrate local champions for wildlife

Following the success of their launch last year, Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust has announced that nominations and applications for the Wilder Nottinghamshire Awards 2025 are now open. Submissions opened on Monday 1 September and will be accepted until Sunday 26 October 2025.
Wilder Nottinghamshire Awards 2025

The Awards shine a spotlight on the inspiring efforts of individuals, communities, schools, farms, businesses and organisations working to protect and restore local wildlife. The inaugural awards in 2024 celebrated winners from across the county, including William Booth School in Sneinton, Friends of Woodlands & Coachwood Green at Shireoaks, and farmer Adrian Baugh of Caunton.

We want the Wilder Nottinghamshire Awards to inspire others to take action for nature’s recovery.

Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust’s Head of Communications, Erin McDaid, said:

“As well as being designed to recognise positive action for wildlife, we want the Wilder Nottinghamshire Awards to inspire others to take action for nature’s recovery. People often feel that there is little they can do on their own or with friends in the community to make a difference but there are people the length and breadth of the county doing just that – and we think it’s important to showcase the amazing work that’s being done across Nottinghamshire.”

To ensure everyone making a difference has the chance to be recognised, the Trust has added a new Wilder Organisation Award to highlight the vital role of not-for-profit organisations.

This year also sees the introduction of a new partnership with It’s in Nottingham, the city’s Business Improvement District (BID), which will sponsor the Wilder Business Award – recognising businesses that play a key role in supporting nature across Nottinghamshire.

Alex Flint, CEO of It’s in Nottingham, said:

"We’re proud to sponsor the Business category of the Wilder Nottinghamshire Awards and to celebrate the incredible work they do across our city. At It’s in Nottingham, we believe a thriving city is also a green and healthy one. It’s vital to recognise and champion the businesses that are taking action for nature, because their commitment not only supports wildlife but also helps create a more sustainable, vibrant Nottingham for everyone."

Erin McDaid added:

“The support of It’s in Nottingham will help us reach out to many more businesses across the city and county who make a difference directly and through inspiring and enabling their staff to support initiatives in their communities.”

For the first time, businesses can also join the Wilder Nottinghamshire Network and record their environmental efforts on the Trust’s interactive ‘Actions Map’.
