Event details
About the event
This event is part of our wider September Wild Weekend event at Attenborough Nature Reserve.
Forest Bathing, or "Shinrin-yoku," is a mindful practice that involves immersing oneself in nature, particularly in forested areas. It includes slow and gentle mindfulness based invitations, both involving movement and stillness, allowing you to fully engage your senses with the surrounding environment. Rather than focusing on a destination, Forest Bathing is about being present in the moment - feeling the breeze, hearing the rustle of leaves, and breathing in the fresh, earthy scents of the forest.
Many scientific studies have demonstrated the numerous benefits of Forest Bathing. It has been shown to lower cortisol levels, reduce blood pressure, and improve mood.
Where to meet
Please gather by the picnic benches in front of Attenborough Nature Centre (NG9 6DY).
We will then make our way to our private woodland area for the session.
Weather
We embrace the outdoors in every season and aim to run sessions in all weathers. Sessions will only be cancelled in the event of very high winds or extreme temperatures.
Please ensure you are dressed appropriately for the weather. Layering is essential during autumn and winter.
